Our Growing Family

Northpoint Insurance Advisors occasionally will merge or acquire the business of another agency in the local area. In March of 2020, this happened with the Williamson Insurance Agency. We look forward to learning more about you and showing you how we can provide you great service for all your insurance needs. This page is to help you understand questions by clients after their current agent has sold their business to Northpoint. Welcome to the family!

Common Asked Questions

Do I still have my insurance policy with Erie Insurance (or Progressive, etc)?

Yes, the merger or acquisition into Northpoint Insurance Advisors does not change your policy with the insurance carrier (ERIE Insurance). The policies that were being serviced by your previous agent has been transferred to Northpoint for the servicing on behalf of the Insurance carrier.

What phone number do I use to ask a question about my policy?

To reach our staff, you can still dial (540) 387-3743. This number will connect you with our licensed staff to answer questions on your policy, make changes, or any other matters related to your policy.

I don’t know anyone at Northpoint Insurance Advisors, can I meet the new people?

We enjoy when clients come and meet us! Too often these days we handle things over the phone or in email, we enjoy face to face interactions and getting to know our customers. Please stop by at our office 2243 W. Main Street, Salem or 210 Professional Park Drive Suite 14, Blacksburg.

Where do I send my insurance premiums?

You continue to send your premiums directly to the insurance carrier (Erie Insurance, Progressive, etc).

Will my premiums increase as a result of Northpoint being my new agency?

The agency has no ability to change the price on policies, this is solely the responsibility of the insurance carriers. If you receive an increase on a renewal, this would have happened regardless of the merger. There are many factors that go into the pricing of your policy, and we will be able to discuss why your premium may have increased. We can also discuss ways to mitigate the increase if this has happened to you (ie. Increasing your deductible or bundling your coverages).

Why did my agent sell his business?

We send letters to the clients from the agent explaining why any agent has sold his or her business to Northpoint Insurance Advisors. But here is Jim Williamson with a message for our customers.

Has Northpoint Insurance Advisors acquired any other businesses?

Yes, in recent years we acquired agencies from both Dan Carper (Carper Insurance) and Sheila Phipps (Phipps Insurance). And recently, our agency President, Scottie Wyatt, sat down with Dan to catch up with him and provide an update for the former Carper Insurance customers that you can view here.
